This past summer of 2012 flew by! There were lots of highlights. Even though we didn't blog through the months, we wanted to catch up on ALL things summer!
Each June and July OU has an orientation program for freshman called Camp Crimson. They honor an OU faculty or staff member at each camp. This year I was asked to be a "namsake" where the camp is named after you and called your "family." As you can see from the shirts they wore above...I'm the real KD. Who is Kevin Durant anyway?
Of course I had to have a theme for my presentation. What better way to introduce the students to OU by welcoming them to OZ (lose the "Z" and add a "U") we are not in Kansas anymore! I told the freshman each of them needs a heart, a brain, and courage in college. Then gave examples from my life.
Of course we had to build the emearld city in "OZ." My friends Quy, Kristen, Bridgette, and Michael literally gave so much of their time to help me. Not to mention friends and family coming to Norman for the special occasion. We are off to see the wizard...the wonderful wizard of OU....what a special time.
Literally the day that camp was out, we headed for a family vacation. We brought Izzy to Texas for a long weekend. Boy oh boy did we have fun. You wouldn't believe the fireworks at the Rangers stadium! Izzy loved the Dallas Aquarium! And we really enjoyed the lagoon pool at our hotel. It was such a fun first family road trip.
Then we celebrated America! USA USA! We went over to our family's home in Edmond. We swam, hung out, ate (the best part), and watched fireworks.
Our day to day consisted of long walks to the park. We have 3 great parks around our neighborhood. So we take turns visiting them. Izzy loves the swing and to climb on and around all the play equipment.
Even though it was fast; it was a fun and special summer. We loved all our campers that are now part of the "Dawkins" family. Especially our Oreintation Guide Vicky. What a summer that meant so much. Izzy...look forward to what is to come! It will be more than our wildest dreams.

Mom's Mentor Moments
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
~ Colossians 3:12
~ Colossians 3:12
Izzy remember that your mom always knew that Christ was the center of her life. Continue to seek him in all you do. He is with us everywhere we go. And what if some days are scarier than others? He says "do not fear." He knew our human minds would need reminding, so he tells us 365 times in his word...once for each day of the year. He wants us to remember to MOVE forward in his love. Do not lean on your own understanding, but his.

Izzy is 10 Months
Izzy you are 10 months old! You weigh 20 pounds and still wear size 3 diapers. You love the song "Old McDonald." And guess what? You finally learned how to clap and wave "hi" and "bye." In fact you wave at complete strangers with a warm smile!
You still enjoy your old pal Bernie! He comes in every morning to greet you in your crib. You scream really loud at the sight of him.
You wear size 9 to 12 month clothes and are trying to decide on your upcoming birthday plans.
You really like the taste of ice cream and are starting to eat some table foods. Even though you still like your baby food such as sweet potato.
You take 2 naps (one in the morning and other in the afternoon). And you sleep through the night! We put you down about 8:00 and you rise and shine around 7:00 a.m.
You are saying "mama" and "dada" and are starting to "jabber."

Do you know what you can't live without? Your animal video! You watch it in the morning and evening. You literally know what animals are next and shout when you see your familiar furry pals.
You still love being outdoors and enjoy your stroller rides.
Your favorite game is to crawl over to the living room curtains and act like you are going to pull them down. Instead you lean against the wall and glance to see if I am looking. I then proceed to say "no way Jose!" You scream with excitement as I take you away and tickle your little tummy. You then crawl over to the wall to do it all over again!
You look forward to bath time, jump high in your jumparoo, and are almost standing by yourself. You crawl all over the house...you are a nosey little girl!
We love you sweet Izzy!
#1 Dad
This past weekend was Scott's first official Father's Day. It was a special one. We celebrated by getting the #1 dad some yummy breakfast in bed. Followed by a morning of fun with our Belle. Then we headed to Scott's family's house in Yukon. Once there we celebrated all the dads!
Then we headed to Clinton to see my grandfather and dad! My mom made a yummy BBQ for everyone. Izzy also made a fun picture of her spelling out the word "dad." A small preview is above!
We adore you Scott. I don't want to sound cliche, but from the moment I met you I had a hunch you would be a loving father and most importantly a great role model for our children. They (Bernie and Izzy) are blessed to have you in their life. I am so glad I get to be a parent alongside you. Happy first Father's Day!

Viva
Each year around our anniversary Scott and I take a trip to celebrate our special season. This year what better time to head to the land of splendor...Las Vegas.
We stayed at the Bellagio and loved it. We headed down to the pool each day. Found an umbrella, settled into a great book, and a yummy Bellini!
Our favorite morning was breakfast in bed. Waffles, eggs, the works! Who could resist Paris in the background (where we stayed our last visit).
One night we hit up a great comedy act at Brad Garrett's House of Comedy. Should I mention how yummy the gourmet popcorn was. This night was followed by a dueling piano bar at New York, New York.
So Garth Brooks was by far the highlight of our trip. He was absolutely amazing. Trisha Yearwood surprised everyone and sang a couple of duets with him. I will forever be thankful that we did this!
The show "O" was also a highlight. What talent!
The trip was very special. It was our first time without Izzy J. However, it was great couple time. I love you DSD. I know I tell you each day, but you make me a BETTER person.
Cheers to 4 years! We have a lifetime to go!
Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush
You have been one "busy Izzy!" We went to see Carley play in her tennis match in OKC. You wanted to have an outfit just like hers!
Grandpa Bob and Tingie brought you for a picnic downtown OKC.
Nana and Papa brought you to the Little River Zoo in Norman.

And you have seen your pal Luke a couple times.
What a fun summer so far! Looking forward to seeing where our "busy Izzy" heads next...
Finding Nemo
Guess who loves summer? YOU!
You like the sunnies, swimming, and best of all...the fashion! We love our little fish!

About Me

- KJ
- Dreams really do come true. I have shared many days with the love of my life, Scott. We met in the winter of 2003 and married in the spring of 2008. We welcomed our sweet bundle of joy to the world August 2011. Izabelle has been a true blessing from our Father. We also have a furry pal named Bernie. I love my family and couldn't be more thankful for friends. My hope is that our blog will help share our days with the ones we love.
